I am a semi-retired computer science teacher from Bedford UK.
I put this site together as a pilot to help me learn some of the things I needed for other projects I work on, and also as a place to host my pupils’ work.
The site is produced using WordPress hosted locally. I made a simple theme which uses Bootstrap 5, and also added the ‘Bootstrap Blocks’ plugin. The site is then exported as static HTML pages using the ‘Simply Static’ plugin , which go into a Github repository. When that is updated the content is automatically transferred to an AWS S3 bucket using Code Pipeline. After a while the Cloud Front distribution gets updated and the pages are live.
I’m a member of the British Sundial Society, and a bit of an enthusiast. I like to make a sundial for the location when I go on holiday.
I’m the drummer in a covers band playing music from the 80s onwards.
In 2008 and 2009 I spent the school summer holidays walking 500 miles across northern Spain.
I like making things from wood using mostly hand tools. I’ve made some furniture, spoons, and am currently volunteering at Stanwick Lakes, where we are making a canoe from a tree trunk using Bronze Age tools.
An online whiteboard system which I made with Javascript, filled with things to make it helpful for teaching computer science.
Some games made in HTML and Javascript by my Y12 A Level Computer Science pupils.
